The Sinfonieorchester Basel with Chief Conductor Markus Poschner is considered one of the oldest and most innovative orchestras in Switzerland. It can be experienced both in its own concert series as well as in Theater Basel and during guest performances at home and abroad. The Sinfonieorchester Basel, which enjoys an excellent international reputation, is the resident orchestra in Stadtcasino Basel as well as in Theater Basel. The orchestra has around 1'500 subscribers. 110 professional musicians are part of the orchestra. The orchestra office comprises 20 people. Immediately or by arrangement, we are looking for a music or humanities scholar to fill the position Editorial & Storytelling (60 - 80%) In this role, you act as the editorial heart of the Sinfonieorchester Basel. You develop stories surrounding our concerts, artists and projects and translate musical content into exciting, target-group-oriented editorial texts and storylines for our various channels. Your tasks • Development of storytelling (topic planning, artist portraits, behind the scenes stories) for different target groups and channels of the Sinfonieorchester Basel • Understandable and at the same time passionate communication of complex musical content through a good dramaturgical sense • Preparation of target-group-oriented content for print and digital media through cross-channel thinking • Writing various text contributions such as press releases, program texts, magazine articles, website texts, artist portraits, digital content, etc. • Conducting interviews as well as content planning and conducting media conferences • General editorial responsibility for various publications (magazine, evening concert programs, season brochures, biographies of artists, CD booklets, etc.) including planning, proofreading and appointment coordination Your profile We are looking for a communicative and open-minded person who understands how to convey their own enthusiasm for music to diverse target audiences. You are sociable, open to other views and used to working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Your interaction with team colleagues, partners, artists and guests of the orchestra is at all times respectful and appreciative. You are resilient and aware that we work in the event sector, also in the evenings and on weekends. A hands-on mentality, an independent proactive way of working, meeting deadlines and agreements as well as a committed and joyful implementation of the tasks assigned to you are a matter of course for you. • Completed studies or comparable training in communication, journalism, cultural, music or humanities. • Several years of professional experience in the areas of editorial and public relations (focus on "storytelling") • Stylistically confident command of the German language, as well as English fluent in speaking and writing, further foreign language skills are an advantage (esp. French) • Strong journalistic sense, excellent editorial skills as well as joy in the development and preparation of exciting stories for different target groups • Local roots and knowledge of the regional circumstances of musical life are just as desirable as an overview of the current international orchestra scene • Interest in current developments in classical music and the cultural sector • Organizational skills, teamwork and creativity paired with a structured and precise way of working We offer you an exciting and versatile activity in a dynamic cultural operation with contemporary employment conditions.
